Nexus TKO®
Technology

“Anti-reflux needleless connectors containing a bidirectional, pressure-sensitive diaphragm have the least amount of reflux”

2021 Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice (8th edition)

Why Nexus TKO®

Nexus TKO® To Keep Open is engineered to produce the least amount of blood reflux and IV catheter occlusions which meets the 2021 INS Standards of Practice.

TKO Pressure Activated Anti-Reflux diaphragm automatically opens and closes based upon physiological and mechanical pressure changes which prevents unintentional blood reflux without any change in clinical practice.

Nexus TKO® Difference

Nexus TKO has a 3-position pressure activated silicone diaphragm which provides bi-directional flow control and meets the definition for Anti-Reflux Needless Connectors in the 2021 Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice.

The TKO has a proprietary 3-position silicone diaphragm which opens and closes based upon mechanical and physiologic pressure changes in a closed IV system.

Nexus TKO® Performance

Evidence indicates that traditional needleless connectors, such as negative displacement, positive displacement and neutral, do not have the least amount of reflux, according to the 2021 INS Standards [36.B.3].

Anti-Reflux technology has the least amount of reflux due to the internal mechanism which is a 3-position pressure-activated silicone diaphragm.

How does it compare to TKO?

Needleless Connector Results: Ranked by Reflux Amount

  • Reflux, Amount of Fluid/Blood pulled into a Catheter Lumen
  • Infusion, Amount of Fluid/Infusate pushed into a Vein

22 gauge PIV; 1” of Catheter = 8.42µL (+/-0.5µL) 1µL = 1mm3
